This is a shallow pin dish made in the 1930s by the Scottish Glass company Monart.
It is a genuine early Monart piece - not a later Vasart or Strathearn piece.
I have previously sold another five of these wee bowls in different colours. These are newly listed items (Nov. 2023). Of course, everyone was very happy with them!
The two that I have are bright scarlet red in colour - this red glass is slightly mottled as you find in Monart items. This is more evident around the side sections when held to the light. The rim has speckle black glass - with lots of coppery-gold aventurine - with a nice subtle sparkle to it.
Each dish has a more unusual base (without the usual pontil) and it has been polished smooth (as photographed) - this would have originally had a round Monart paper label - but sadly this has gone missing over the years.
Each is almost identical and both are sweet little miniature examples - measuring just over 3 3/4 inches in diameter and with a height of an inch.
These are great display pieces and great starter pieces for a collection of Scottish glassware. If you look around - you will see that this red colour is harder to find on the pin dishes and the shade is much sought after.

Both are in great condition with no chips or cracks. Listed at a fair price for a piece of Monart art glass about 90 years old.
