This is a small Troika Wheel Vase.
It has an early painted Troika St Ives England mark on the base, as photographed.
It also has the painter's initials.
Troika was an interesting and indeed iconic art pottery that operated in Cornwall from about 1962 - until its closure in 1983.
Troika was based at St Ives from 1963 to 1970. It was set up in the Powell and Wells Pottery at Wheal Dream - and then moved to Fragden Places in Newlyn.
Their highly individual pottery was sold to the local tourist trade as well as upmarket department stores such as Heals and Liberty's in London.
This is an attractive small wheel vase. It is more unusual in its very simple abstract decoration. It is a little like a pie-chart. I have not seen this minimalistic design on one of their little vases before.
It is a smaller size wheel vase. The dimensions are 4 3/4 inches in diameter and with a depth of 1 1/4 inches.
It has no damages and is in excellent condition.
The rarity of the design - and its early 1960s mark is reflected in my asking price for this piece.
