This is a beautiful Scottish Victorian brooch dating to around the 1880s.
It is a fine antique example. The brooch is a round in shape with an amber faceted Cairngorm in the center - this is raised on a central coronet which has delicate cutaway sections, as photographed. The stone is held in place by a circlet of wee claws.
The halo surrounding the central polished stone contains a collection of inlaid Scottish agates (citrines and amethysts). These are all shiny, polished and in good condition, fully intact and with no damages.
The whole of the back is covered in a curved layer of sterling silver - as you find on antique Scottish pieces.
The pin is as you would find on antique Scottish jewellery - with a simple c-curl clasp. There are a couple of little dents to the silver near the pin - commensurate with the age of the piece. You dont see this when it is is worn. The front of the brooch is perfect.
This is a pretty Victorian Scottish brooch: it has a diameter of 4 cm (1 1/2 inches).
I have taken close-up photographs - so please examine these closely to check the condition.
It is unmarked with a hallmark - which is not to worry about, as many of these old Scottish pieces are not given a hallmark etc - the backing and settings for the stones are silver - and sold as such.
It is nice and clean. It is a finely made and very attractive example.
I am popping it in the cute wee Scottish tartan card jewellery box - this is not original to the brooch - but probably dates to the 1950s or 1960s - but a nice Scottish box to store your brooch in when you are not wearing it.
The brooch will be sent to you in a small tracked and signed for parcel with Royal Mail. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
