These Ditchfield Glasform paperweights are always sought-after items.
This is a lovely large globe shaped weight. This one is a very strange paperweight by Ditchfield. The main colour of the weight is generally a purple colour - with a hint of a rainbow iridescence.
The lower section of the weight has lots of little black flecks which resemble the ground or a field. There are more speckles in the sky (?clouds?) and there are some upright tendrils which appear to be a tree form with more speckles forming the leaves. You do not see all these details clearly when the weight is on display. When held up to the light theses details become more which is covered in a a French blue glorious rainbow lustre effect. There are pale silver rambling trails all over the surface of the weight - and these also have a subtle rainbow lustre to them. My paperweight certainly glistens if held in your hand and angled in the light. It has nice and smooth and a very tactile piece of glass. It is certainly a rather sophisticated weight.
There is the original Glasform label on the bottom of the weight, It is a unique piece of Ditchfield glass and it is priced accordingly. John Ditchfield has recently retired and these wonderful pieces of art glass and no longer being made.
