This is a very fine piece of vintage hand-blown Scottish art glass.
It dates to around the 1930s. It is a genuine Monart piece with the catalogued shape OE.
My lovely vase has the typical "double" polished pontil, that you find on pieces of Monart glass - the raised central disk would have originally had a gold paper Monart label on it - but sadly, this is no longer present. Not signed - but Monart prices never had a signature - so that is not a worry.
There is NO etched Vasart mark and no later leaping salmon mark either - which again would back up my attribution to an earlier Monart piece.
It is certainly a beautiful example of vintage Scottish glass with such attractive colours.
The base section of the vase has a light-mottled sugar pink tone - from which issues lots of slightly darker purple and lilac-coloured swirls. These swirls are peppered with splashes of gold aventurine flakes. The upper part of the vase is a simple pale opaque peppermint colour.
In good vintage condition.
Nice larger size - with a height of 8 1/2 inches. Diameter at the top is 6 inches. The base has a diameter of 4 inches.
Weight unpacked is just about 1.2 kg.
A fair asking price for a collectable piece of Scottish Art Glass by Monart.
