This is a lovely genuine antique Staffordshire figurine dating to the end of the 19th century. It was modelled by Sampson Smith.
It is a nice large size and looks great on display.
It shows a man seated on a white horse - he carries a rolled-up scroll in one hand - so is perhaps a courier or messenger.
* Update. I have just been told that this is not just any gentleman on horseback - but rather it is a model of King Charles I (he is usually paired with another horseman looking in the opposite direction who represents Cromwell). His figurine is listed on page A172 of the book Portrait Figures by Gordon Pugh
The figurine is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
The paintwork to this piece is minimalistic - with just his little face and boots painted with colour. A nice large piece being just under 14 inches in height.
Sadly the legs of the horse would make this piece too fragile to send outside of the UK.
LOCATION CODE: STAFF 19/4
Due to his fragility - he would have to be posted to UK locations only. This will be with Parcelforce24 and applied to your order at the checkout.
