This is fabulous and hard to find large mid-century Swedish stoneware wall plaque.
It dates from the 1960s and was designed by Britt-Louise Sundell (1928 - 2001) for Gustavsberg.
It is in excellent vintage condition with the Gustavsberg mark on the back, as photographed.
Sundell (1928 - 2001) worked at Gustavsberg at the same time as Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larson.
She was not as prolific as her more famous fellow artists - but she did produce some amazing pieces of ceramics - like this fabulous abstract and extremely stylish wall plaque. It features the stylized form of a bird - not sure if she has little chicks sitting on her back - or if these are decorative tail feathers.
The plaque measures 10 1/4 inches in height - and at the widest point is 9 1/2 inches.
It is a substantial piece and measures 1.4 kg in weight unpacked.
