This is a delightful little vintage solid silver penannular brooch or wee cloak or plaid scarf pin.
It is simply marked SILVER on the back. It also has a marker's stamp: BM. This is recorded as being used by the Birmingham Mint in the 1970s - so on this basis and on the style of the brooch, I would date this one as dating to the 1970s (some 50 years old now).
It has probably been made by a little Scottish craftsman - as the design is a more unusual one.
The pin has a hexagonal head inset with a green stone and little silver balls all around. Two more balls are on each end of the hoop section.
It is a nice form - more contemporary than traditional Celtic designs - but a fine piece of Scottish jewellery.
It is sold nice and clean - the pin is nice and sharp with no issues.
The brooch measures: about 4 cm in diameter at the widest point.
I will pop it in a little card gift box to send to you. I will charge £4.95 postage in the UK with Royal Mail - if I can price it cheaper - then I will refund you any postal overpayment. Postage will be applied at the checkout.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF PENANNULAR BROOCH / CLOAK PIN:
Open the cloak pin so that the pin is pointing in the opposite direction to the hole in the ring.
Stick the pin through the cloth and then back out again so that the pin is held in place by the cloth.
Close the cloak pin all the way so that the end of the pin passes through the ring.
Turn the ring through 90 degrees.
