This is an attractive re-strike etching by the celebrated printmaker, Herbert Thomas DICKSEE (1862 - 1942).
It is signed in the plate with initials HD.
It is not dated but obviously must have been made around 1922 (the same time as my "Forgotten" etching by Dicksee).
The image size is 28 x 22.5 cm
A lovely image showing lonesome little West Highland Terrier or Westie sitting on the doorstep and looking to see where his owner has gone. Dicksee excelled in these images showing forlorn furbabies - and the expression on this little Westie's face certainly tugs at the heartstrings.
It is an original etching but a later hand-coloured impression not signed in pencil by Dicksee - but still a fine impression with finely etched lines. The detail is still nice and crisp and it remains a very attractive impression and is offered here at a very fair price.
It makes a very attractive pendant to hang beside my other Dicksee showing a Scottish Terrier.
It is NOT a reproduction - but a slightly later re-strike which has been taken from the original copper plate.
It is printed on good quality paper and has a pronounced platemark.
It is in lovely condition and will be sold with a new fresh window mount and ready to frame.
Postage to the UK. This could be rolled and sent in a sturdy tube to the States - this will cost about £20 and applied at check out.
