This is a lovely mid-19th Century Staffordshire polychrome Toby Jug in the form of Horatio, Lord Nelson.
Nelson is depicted standing beside a canon. There is a similar example in the collection of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
The handle of the jug and its base as painted with rustic shades. The jug is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
He is very carefully painted. There are fine details on Nelson’s face, as well as all the little flowers on his yellow waistcoat. The admiral’s coat is a vibrant underglaze cobalt blue colour.
Height: 11 1/2 inches.
Due to the weight - he would only be posted in the UK. It will be sent as a medium parcel with Royal Mail Recorded post. This will cost £6.95 and will be applied to your order at the checkout.
