This is an earlier piece of hand-crafted glass that was designed by Michael Harris.
It is part of his "Tortoiseshell" range for Isle of Wight Studio Glass.
It is impressed with the "flame" pontil mark to the base. This lovely large globular vase dates to the early 1970s.
It has a spiral running all around the vase, and features bands of sandy brown and darker brown glass.
This is a larger example - and it looks like a large bubble. It is about 8 inches in diameter and with a height of about 7 1/2 inches.
It is in great condition with no chips, cracks or bruises.
It is now getting harder to find these early Isle of Wight pieces. This is reflected in my asking price which is a fair one for this fine piece of vintage British studio glass.
I also have another of similar size and shape - but it is slightly darker in tone.
