Karel Oberthor was a Czech artist, who was born in Prague in 1921.
He studied lithography at the Industrial Press in Prague (1938-1940), then at the Ukrainian Academy (1940-1942) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1945-1949).
He specialist in producing small graphics and coloured lithographs and was particularly interested in depicting dreamlike scenes populated by stylised horses and figures in silhouette. He created hundreds of ex-libris bookplates.
This is a little original colour lithograph by Oberthor is titled Moonlight Romance. It is pencil signed below and editioned as 125 / 200. It is in its original vintage frame with an old Czech label on the reverse, as photographed. It is a small work and measures 27.5 x 6 cm.
It might improve with having a new frame - but this is such an unusual find to that I am selling it in its old frame. The print has a window mount and then glazed - the edges of the frame are covered with a decorative tape.
It is an interesting mid-century piece of Czech art and it looks good on display. It will be sent to you with Royal Mail Small Parcel Tracked.
