This is a lovely vintage Danish double candle holder or wall sconce.
It is made by Dantorp Design, Denmark, and is marked to the reverse, as photographed.
These Dantorp items are now highly collectable and much sought after.
This is an unusual design with a tall rectangular backplate - which has a carved bracket to the base from which twin candle holders issue. Each candle holder has a large circular drip pan below. The way each holder is structured allows you to use two different sizes of candles - a slightly more chunky one - and those typically Danish tall thin taper ones.
Dimensions - the backplate measures roughly 12 3/4 inches in height and at the top, it is 4 1/2 and at the bottom tapers to 3 1/2 inches. The drip pan edge to drip pan edge is 5 inches.
This scone is made of heavy brass - and has a very shiny almost mirror-finish golden sheen to the metal. Due to the very reflective nature of the metal - it has been very difficult to photograph the form properly.
It is in good vintage condition with no damages - there are no dents or disfiguring scratches to the surface patina. There are some little marks on the lacquer surface - but very minor and could be polished off.
A nice piece of Danish metalwork - hope that my photos do it justice. It will look fabulous in a Scandi-modern interior - more of a fine sculptural item than a daily functional piece.
My asking price reflects the high demand for these pieces of fine Danish metalwork. I have already sold a smaller tabletop version of this design.
