This is a highly decorative antique mirror. It is in an excellent collection and is ready for you to just hang straight onto your wall.
It is a good quality item as you can see from my photographs. It dates from the 1900s and is Scottish in origin. Butterfly embellishments on brassware were very popular motifs with the Scottish artist, Margaret Gilmour. I would imagine that the creator of this one was influenced by her work in the production of this mirror.
The actual mirror surface is free from blemishes and as a mark of quality - has a bevelled edge all around.
The frame of the mirror is made of polished brass. The decoration consists of a planished background with a texture created by lots of tiny pricked out dots. There are repousee scrolling Art Nouveau curls to the fore and in each corner is a pretty butterfly.
The brass surround is nice and clean - it certainly gleams. The mirror has its original hardwood backing and hanging rings.
DIMENSIONS: A nice larger size for a domestic interior. It measures 22 1/2 inches in height and 17 1/2 inches wide. The glass section is 16 x 11 1/4 inches.
This mirror looks good on display and you certainly won't be disappointed with it. Sadly, due to its weight - it would have to be for UK addresses only. The mirror unpacked is a stonking 4 KG. It will be sent to you with Parcelforce24. This will cost £20 and applied to your order at the checkout.
