Striefen und Flecken is a German term for "stripes and spots". It was most often used to describe a decorative glass style that was popular in the early 1900s. It was mostly used by Bohemian glassworks such as Kralik or Loetz. The decoration usually had irridescent or gold stripes or spots that were applied to the glass. This type of decoration was much favoured around 1900.
My large Art Nouveay bowl is made of a wonderful emerald colour glass used by Kralik c 1899. It is an fabulous organic shape with lobes and swags on the base section and a gently fluted neck with ends in an undulating rim. It has fine silver vertical stripes painted on the body and also a random selection of large opaque silver dots. The shape and size of my bulbous vase would have required great skill in making - it has been hand-blown.
Not many of these survive as they are relatively delicate. My example is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks - all the silver decoration is original and intact. It is a nice large size and will look impressive on display in an Art Nouveau or Edwardian inspired interior. This is all reflected in my asking price.
Dimensions: It is 6 1/2 inches in height.
It will be sent to you with Royal Mail Tracked (Medium Parcel. This will be applied to your order at the checkout. I will also be taking out private specialist insurance so that the vase is fully insured against loss or damage in transit to you.
