This is a fabulous antique vaseline glass pendant or ceiling hanging lampshade
It is a very stylish example - with a flattened parasol shape to the shade - with is dimpled all over the cerntal sectoin - and frilled around the edges - with little streaks running through it.
The frilled edge reminds me much of the frilly petticoats of a French can-can dancer at the Moulin Rouge
A very pretty and feminine style of shade - and it would look very good in any room - perhaps not so much as a shade - but more as a decorative lighting feature - perhaps best in a hall or as a downlighter over a dining table.
You would hang it on a bit of a longer cable from your ceiling rose and perhaps get one of those little funky deisgner light bulb to add even more decorative interest to the light.
The light shade comes complete with its original brass holder - you would just need to pop your current bulb holder through it and sit the shade nice and straight and pop in your fancy bulb and you are all ready to go.
The shade is a genuine antique one (NOT a reproduction one) and it is in amazing condition - given its age.
Dimensions: the overall diameter is 25 cm (9 3/4 inches). The overall height including the old brass holder is roughly 3 1/2 inches (9 cm).
Hard to find these old opalescent / lustre/ vaseline frilled-pancake shades. The colour of this one is an icy pale blue / grey shade... so probably would look best in a room decorated with pale or subtle pastel Nouveau colours.
It is quite a fragile piece of glass- which I am sure that you can imagine - so it would have to be very very carefully packed in a larger sized box. This would be a medium-sized parcel with Royal Mail - tracked service.
