These are a fine large-sized pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire dogs - the take the form of a pair of seated chimney spaniels.
They are genuine Victorian examples, and definitely NOT reproductions.
They are nicely modelled examples with no chips or cracks - they have their original dark brown glass eyes. The modelling on this pair is more minimalistic and monumental in form than other examples in my Iconic Edinburgh online store.
They are a matched pair, as created.
Each dog has a little gold coloured collar with a padlock on it - the padlock and chain on each dog have some rubbing and losses to the gilding - but this is common on these old Victorian examples.
They are fine display pieces - and will look fabulous on a mantlepiece or old-fashioned kitchen dresser. Sadly there is a little damage to one of the dog's paws - to the back (as photographed) - this is stable and cannot be seen when the pair are on display - the little crack of the back of the paw is reflected in my much-reduced price for this pair.
These are a very large pair. Height: 12 inches. Width: 10 1/2 inches
Due to their weight, they are UK posting only.
