I just love this vintage tin - they certainly dont make them like this anymore.
It is a fabulous tin dating to the late 1950s or early 1960s.
The design features cool hipster's having a party - on the lid are stylised, almost cartoon, images of party balloons - in very understated pastel colours - sugar pink, baby blue and pistacchio - which were very popular in the 1950s.
The best bit are the images around the sides of all the people attending the party - it is certainly a masked revel - and everyone is dressed in national costume or fancy dress.
Lettering on the side reads: Pascall / White Heather / Chocolates and toffees / Made by James Pascall Limited / Mitcham, England.
On the base it says that the tin can be returned to the retailer and a deposit of 2 old shillings will be returned to you.
The inside of the tin is generally clean and and free from rust - the metal has naturally oxidised over many decades - and this is the same as the base.
There are no dents of nasty scratches to the images - some where to the lid at the edges where the lid has also been taken off and popped back on for some decades.
Generally - apart from being slightly shabby chic - a fantastic vintage tin - and great size if you want to use it today as a cake tin for storing baked items in or perhaps as a talking point in a window display at a vintage sweetie shop!
Nice larger size: diameter is 23 cm or 9 inches - and with a height of just over 12 cm or just over 4 3/4 inches.
These vintage tins with such attractive and whimsical designs on they are now hot collectables.
To be fair - I am loathe to part with this on - so this is reflected in my price here.
