This is a very accomplished abstract paperweight by Margot Thomson. It is called Mists of Time and it dates to 1988.
It comes from a limited edition of 500 weights (the edition closed at 368 weights). It is catalogued as CT-631.
The weight is a stunning pyramid shape with facets. There are four inverted teardrop shaped viewing facets all around and these meet in a rounded peak at the top. Inside, there is an oval silvery airbubble rising from the center and this is topped by an amber-toffee coloured plume. This central motif represents a tall tower or castle. It is still standing but now only as a spindle, after been worn away by the "mists of time". Around the central tower the mist swirl; gritty swirls of white bubbles, turquoise and royal blue. It is certainly a dramtic weight. It is in remarkable condition given it is now nearly 40 years old.
It measures 4 inches in height - with a diameter of 3 1/3 inches at the widest point.
It is a very sophisticated piece of Scottish glass. It is in good vintage condition with no chips, scratches or damages.
