This is a really large and eye-catching piece of Murano Art Glass.
It is been in my collection for many years - and I have just listed a few of my larger pieces (sadly!) to free up some more space at home!
This is one of the largest pieces of Murano Sommerso Glassware that I have ever owned - it is a stonking 3 kg in weight (unpacked).
It is very tall at 14 inches in height and is 6 1/2 inches at the widest point.
The main body of the vase is made of a rich emerald coloured glass - which is cased with a ring of yellow glass - as photographed. And then all cased in a layer of clear. This is a technique that was developed by Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Murano near Venice.
My vase is unsigned and has no label - but as you can see from my photograph - it would have required great skills to produce something of this magnificent size and form. Other makers of this style of glass included Mandruzzato, Formia and Luigi Onesto.
My vase is in excellent vintage condition - it has no chips or cracks and nice and clean inside. I have had it on display for many years. There is a tiny flaw in the making on the base - where there is a little dimple or loss. This is not a chip as it is all. smooth and might have been caused by a little bubble inclusion here in the making. You do not see this little flaw when on display.
It is listed at a very fair price for such a show-stopper - and its age etc.
It will of course be for posting in the UK only. I will be posting with Royal Mail Parcelforce48 - and given its size and weight - it will post up the postage to you a little. It is going to be in the region of £14 - which will be applied at check-out.
