Rothenstein became one of the most experimental printmakers in Britain during the ‘50s and ’60s. Numerous major galleries currently hold his work and he was made Hon. RE and elected RA in 1983.
This print dates to the late 1980s and it is a reminiscence of Rothenstein's youth when he lived in the country at Stroud. His childhood memories are vivid ones - full of life and colour. It shows a garden – and it is number one of a series - and is a colour woodcut with areas of hand colouring. The abstracted shapes of birds and trees are certainly very dreamlike visions.
The print is still in its original large and heavy frame. This is in good condition - and has a metallic frame. There is one tiny dink to the side of the frame, as photographed.
Due to the size and weight of the framed print - it is going to cost about £20 to send to you with Parcelforce courier service. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
