This is a rarer to fine hallmarked Sterling silver brooch made by the Scottish silversmith, Ola Gorie of Orkney.
Her design features a symbol found at the famous Skara Brae site. This site is a historically important preserved stone age village on Orkney's west coast. The site was preserved by being buried under large sand dunes. There are a lot of Celtic symbols, such as on this brooch, carved into the rock.
The brooch decorative has an ancient geometric pattern. It is beautifully made with black enamel work and raised silver decoration to the front and a plain polished reverse.
This Ola Gorie Silver brooch measures 4.6 x 4 cm.
The reverse has the maker’s initials at the back OMG. I can't quite make out the date letter on the hallmark – but it is one that might have been applied in the late 1970s. It has been assayed in Edinburgh.
Again, this a lovely quality piece of Scottish jewellery and listed at a fair piece for an early piece by Ola Gorie.
As a vintage piece, rest assured that it is nice and clean, and ready to wear. It will be sent in a simple card gift box.
UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Tracked (Large Letter). This will cost be applied to your order at the checkout.
