This is a fabulous and most unusual light fitting. It would amazing in a hallway with a high ceiling - or equally stunning over a dining table or as a feature light fitting in an Art Deco living room.
It is a good quality shade and an original 1930s one - not a modern reproduction.
It also comes with its original chain and hanging fittings, as photographed.
The shade is of drum form with slim brass columns inside as part of the structure - the base is held on with decorative brass screw-on rivets on the base. There is a flat ribbon-shaped brass trim at the top of the drum.
The glass drum is made of frosted white glass with two hoops of clear glass as decoration to the bottom.
The large hook to hang up the shade attaches to a conical shape brass cap - this attaches to the main drum shape with three brass strips with a curl at each of the tips. The strips have decorative rivets at the drum ring and two on the conical brass section. A nice touch! The brass cone is attached to a lower decorative glass cone - there is a gap between the sides of the drum and the bottom of the glass cone.
The hanging hook on the top of the lamp is an extra-large one - and of a more unusual Deco geometric shape. The chain attaches to his large solid hook.
I love the chain and have never seen another quite like is the links are most unusual and again of geometric Art Deco shapes, as photographed.
The chain attaches to the large brass hook which is part of the ceiling rose - which you would fit to your ceiling.
It is a most unusual and special light shade. I have never seen another like it before. It is all built up in sections - and these can be disassembled,
The dimensions are as follows. The diameter of the glass base is 9 inches. The overall height from the glass base to the top of the hook is about 13 inches. The length of the heavy brass chain is 19 inches. The diameter of the rose hook is 3 inches. The overall length when the light is hung from the hook would be 34 inches.
It is certainly a substantial item and weighs 2.3 kg unpacked.
Given my shade's exceptional quality, rarity, and date (now nearly 100 years old) - it is certainly listed at a very fair price for a feature item in a special Deco interior - you will certainly have to look long and hard for another one.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
It is in excellent condition with no damages - and comes with its cloth cable to wire to your supply.
UK POSTING ONLY. It will be sent with Parcelforce - and very carefully packed to send to you.
