Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt was born in 1895 in Leipzig in Germany and died in Munich in 1977.
He studied at the Weimar Academy of Fine Arts, where he became a student under the artists Theodor Hagen and Lionel Feininger. He rejected a professorship in Weimar and went to Munich in 1918, where he decided to work entirely on animal engravings.
This is a very attractive original hand-coloured re-strike etching showing a cute little kitten playing with a little ball or marble. The artist has certainly caught the character of the little cat who is completely engrossed in putting the ball about with his paw. I love how with all his fine etched lines - has caught the texture of the very soft fur of the wee kitty.
It has a pencil inscription below the image: Original Engraving My Meyer-Eberhardt.
The image is really nice and crisp with finely etched lines - it is printed on thick good quality paper.
The image size is 22.5 x 23.5 cm
The print is in excellent vintage condition - and is being sold unmounted and unframed.
It is listed at a fair price for such an attractive print taken from Meyer-Eberhardt's original copper plate.
