This is a beautiful vintage original Indian watercolour painting.
It is painted on fine silk or linen.
It is highly decorative and comes in a simple gold framed.
The artwork has a bit of age to it (it is possibly 19th century)- and it has been meticulously painted with great attention to detail.
It has been painted with gouache paint and watercolour.
The frame measures: 36 x 27.5 cm.
The painted image is 22.5 x 13 cm
The composition shows preparations for an elaborate feast. A sultan sits under a shady brown coloured canopy. A man keeps him cool with waving a fan above his head. In the central section of the painting trays of exotic fruits are laid out on a ground cloth. The Sultan is kept entertained by music from the musicians to the left. Guests kneel to the right side.
The section at the front features a pale blue floor cloth - more fruits are served and guests and onlookers assemble around the serving area.
The sheet is completely covered with minute details - and the whole composition is just so beautifully painted.
This is a great original artwork for a bon viveur - or someone who likes the finer things in life - or is perhaps a bit of a glutton!
A very fine old Indian miniature painting - listed at a fair price for the amount of work which has gone into it.
Any white marks which seem to be on the painting are only reflections on the glass when I was taking the photos - the surface was very reflective.
