This is a nice pair of tall wine glasses for collectors of memorabilia relating to the iiconic supersonic aeroplane, the Concorde.
Both are in perfect condition and measure 7 3/8 inches high. The rim is 3 1/8 inches and the foot is 2 3/4 inches.
The glasses were issued as commemorative or souvenir glasses by Goodwood Travel. This company was a UK based travel agent who speciialised in organising special flights for clients on the Concorde. Events were called Flights of Fantasy and ranged from short champagne flights around the Bay of Biscay to weekend getaways and global trips further afield.
As a memory of your trip on Concorde you could acquire branded memorabilia - such as luggage tags, brochures and a selection of drinking glasses. All this came to an end in 2003 when Concorde was permenently grounded and all these speciali chartered flights came an end. Goodwood then astutely switched actvities to Orient Express and QE2 trips. These vintage Concorde experience glasses are now much sought-after. These glasses probably date to the late 1990s.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection. Each glass is a tall one for serving wine with an engraved inscriptio on the side - and an image of the Concorde above this seen in profile. I love the decorative fancy textured stem.
