This is a fine pair of large size Edinburgh Crystal (Star of Edinburgh pattern) brandy glasses.
The Star of Edinburgh pattern is a classic one, first introduced by Edinburgh Crystal in 1948.
The price here is for the pair, as shown. I am listing them at £15. They are not signed with an etched mark - they probably had a paper label in the past which reads Edinburgh Crystal.
Being hand-crafted, there is a little difference in the size of the spikes on the engraved star on the base of each glass. I have photographed this for your inspection - all other details match up.
As you can see, they are both large and substantial vintage crystal glasses and would be certainly get a good swirl on a larger measure of brandy in these. They are in perfect condition with no damage.
Dimensions: Each glass is 5 inches in height. The diameter of the foot is 3 inches.
This large size are getting hard to source and this is reflected in my asking price. I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.
Postage for his glass will be with Royal Mail Tracked Post. This will be applied to your order at checkout.
History:
The Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glassworks was established in the 1860's at Leith Walk Glassworks and later at Norton Park in Edinburgh.
In 1921 the glassworks became part of Webbs Crystal Glass Company.
In 1955, The Edinburgh and Leith Glassworks became Edinburgh Crystal, and the next decade saw further expansion and eventually the demolition of the old glassworks at Norton Park and new premises at Penicuik 10 miles south of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Crystal went into administration in July 2006. Although the brand was taken over by the Waterford / Wedgwood Group the factory no longer exists and the brand is now discontinued.
