This is a lovely vintage late 1940s / early 1950s powder compact.
It features a rarer image of the Sacre Coeur on top of the Montmatre Hill in Paris. Images of the Sacre Coeur on vintage 50s compacts are much harder to find - and you might more readily find one featuring the Eiffel Tower at this time.
The compact is not marked with a maker's name - and is obviously French in origin - as a little ribbon lozenge at the bottom is Souvenir de Paris.
The compact is in good condition commensurate with age.
The lid has an image printed onto thick paper or card and then covered in a thick clear plastic or lucite cover. The edges are a dull brass colour, and the back is a marblised plastic or lucite in a pale silvery green. It is a better quality one as shown with the addition of the marblised base.
Inside there is a mirror in the lid - this is clean with no spotting or scratches etc. The base section where the powder goes is nice and clean - and looks as if it has never been used.
It has its original powder sifter and I have popped in a little modern (new) foam sponge. Diameter is 7 cm or 2 3/4 inches
