This is a rare and collectable vintage 1970s "Dodo Designs" Tin.
It was made to store tea or tea bags in.
Dodo Designs was a strange English company based in Tunbridge Wells, England. In the 70's and 80's they manufactured and sold a wide range of unusual gifts.
The company most famous for their quirky kitchen aprons (such as the bra and pants one which featured in the title sequences of the vintage TV comedy show "Man About the House"). They also produced a wide range of enamel signs with comic messages and reproducing popular adverts from earlier times.
The company sadly no longer trades - and their items are now keenly sought after.
The design is very pop art Carnaby Street / Sargent Peppers in feel with its Union Jack background and Edwardian photographic images of military commanders in the Boer War.
The portraits show the Boy Scouts founder Major General Baden-Powell, General Sir Redvers Buller, Lt Gen Lord Methuen, Lord Roberts and Lord Kitchener.
It measures 5 inches in height and is 5 3/4 inches in length. It has a depth of 3 3/4 inches.
This one is in very good vintage condition - as you can see in my photographs.
The exceptional condition is reflected in my asking price for this vintage tin.
Please note this tin dates to the 1970s.
