These are really cute - and a great wee set if you collect antique Willow Pattern items or Children's Ceramics / Nursery Ware
On offer here are a teeny weeny lidded tureen or serving dish and matching stand or ashet. These date to the late 19th century or early 20th century.
Great little display items and in lovely condition with no chips or cracks.
There are also three little miniature plates - which come with this tureen, as photographed.
The price breaks down as follows: Tureen and Stand £25; Each wee plate £5 - that totals in at £40 for all pieces.
The tureen and stand have a Bishop & Stonier mark to the base: and the word BISTO. The mark was shows a Caduceus and was a trademark used by Powell & Bishop in 1876 - and then subsequently by Bishop & Stonier with the word BISTO.
In 1891 Duncan Bishop and John Stonier created this new company trademark using the first letters of their surnames. The company was taken over by George Jones & Sons in the 1930s - so these wee pieces of nursery ware must date well before that time.
These little miniature pieces are now quite rare and you have to look hard to find these little table size pieces scaled down for display or children.
The ashet measures: 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches. The tureen measures handle to handle: about 5 1/4 inches with a depth of just over 3 inches. Height from base to top of lid handle is about 2 3/4 inches.
