These are great little table decorations if you have guests around for games of Bridge.
The set was made by Carlton Ware - and date to the late 1950s / 1960s.
They are very rare survivors - and the only other set that I have seen have been on offer Stateside.
These wee dishes represent the four symbols on packs of playing cards: Diamonds, Heart, Spades and Clubs.
I don't think that these were ever used or intended to be used as ashtrays - as there are no indentations etc to contain cigarettes on the dishes - I think that they may have been to serve little nuts or peppermints on the table for the Bridge Set.
They are all in excellent condition - and really delightful.
Measurements for each dish are roughly 9.5 x 8.5 cm.
Unpacked they weight 250 grams.
Listed at a fair price - as you probably won't see another wee set of these again for a long time.
