This is a very rare survivor and a really cute vintage 1950s vintage mechanical wind-up toy bear. He is called Thirsty Bear.
He is even rarer as this one takes the form of a little thirsty panda bear - haven't seen another black and white Panda one.
He works with a clockwork key in his back. “Thirsty Bear” pours himself a drink from his wee plastic bottle, then raises the glass to his mouth & tips his head back to drink, while wagging his black pom-pom tail and moving around. Don’t we all!!!
The toy is made in the 50s by Alps / Japan. He is made of tin and covered with a fuzzy fabric material to resemble fur. It is a man-made product. He then wears little red and white striped dungarees.
All pieces originally issued are present. He comes in his original box - sadly, a little dented and creased to the top - as photographed.
The little bear is in excellent condition - nice and clean and of course, WORKING.
