This is a rare 1940s card game which relates to football or soccer. It was made by Pepys Cards.
It consists of a total of 44 cards which show famous players of the day from the teams of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales along with their national football badges (Lion for Scotland, Leopards for England, Dragon for Wales and Shamrocks for Ireland).
Also included in the little box is the original paper pitch. It also has the little flat counter in the shape of a brown football (this is often missing) so great to have this still in the box.
The object of the game is to score goals by playing the ball into the opponents’ goal squares. The cards are shuffled and cut, the players form 2 pairs of partners A & B - partners A play into the west goal in the first half and the east goal in the second half. Rules are included in the box.
Comes complete with paper pitch and rules book.
All items are in an excellent vintage condition - the box is a lovely display piece. An item for the more specialist collector of vintage playing cards or football-related games. In as nice condition as you might expect to find.
