This is a highly collectable vintage storage jar - designed by Robert Stewart in the 1960s.
Robert Stewart was a remarkable Scot designer and artist, who helped to revolutionize post-war design. He exerted an influence in many fields: from fabrics for Liberty, tapestries, painting, and ceramics, to large-scale murals in public buildings.
For 35 years he was an inspirational teacher at the Glasgow School of Art.
This pots is in good vintage condition as you can see from my photographs - and is now considered an iconic piece of mid-century design.
No chips or cracks - and the gold gilding is in fairly good condition with a little rubbing to the gilding on the little ball decoration on the shoulders of the pot. The knop on the lid has a little rubbing - but it is generally acceptable.
The main body of the pot is 5 1/2 inches in height (6 inches to top of knop). The diameter of the base is just over 4 1/4 inches. This one is marked: Coffee and is a harder pattern to source.
Due to its size - the canister will have to be sent to you with medium size parcel with Royal Mail Tracked Service. If I can post cheaper I will be happy to refund any postage overpayments.
