This is an attractive vintage paperweight made by John Deacons.
It is signed below the flower with a blue cane with white centre and John Deacons initials JD. It probably dates to just before the year 2000.
The ground is a cloudy or mottle peppermint green colour. In the centre of the weight is a lampwork flower. There is a millefiori cane in the centre of the flower to suggest white pollen. The petals are cerise and tipped with pink. There are emerald green stems and leaves.
It is in excellent condition with no damage. I have taken lots of images for your inspection. It was a little difficult to photograph as the dome of the weight was very shiny - any white marks on the weights in my images are only reflections!
It measures just over 2 1/2 inches in diameter and with a height of 2 inches. Unpacked it weights: 370 grams. It is in perfect condition with no damage of any kind.
It will cost £5.50 with Royal Mail Recorded post. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
HISTORY: Deacons Glass is a family-run studio that is still situated in Crieff, Scotland. The town has a long history of art glass manufacturing starting over 50 years ago in 1964 with Strathearn Glass, followed by Perthshire paperweights in 1968, J Glass in 1978 and finally Deacons Glass in 1980. John started as an apprentice with Strathearn Glass in 1967 but within a year was asked by the manager Stuart Drysdale to join his Perthshire Paperweights start-up team. It was here that John gained a thorough grounding in all aspects of running a glass studio.
