This is one of a small number of beautiful Scottish paperweights designed by the glass maestro William Manson - which are available my Iconic Edinburgh online store.
This lovely is called Lilies and Ladybird (CT 841)- and number No. 1 of a planned issue of 250 weight - but only 86 of these weights issued.
This fine weight must have been really time-consuming to make - look at all the intricate details on the yellow lily flower and the teeny weeny red ladybird below.
It has an etched inscription on the base: 1/250 Lily and Lady Bird / Caithness Scotland.
It was issued in 1991 as part of the traditional collect - and the original issue price for this beautiful weight was £175.
So my asking price is certainly a very fair one - especially for the very first weight made in the edition.
Sadly - it has no certificate, but with a little velvet Caithness storage bag.
It is in damage free condition, and as you can see a really fabulous example.
It has a polished facet or viewing window to the front - and looking at the weight through the facet, the image contained inside is certainly very three dimensional.
Dimensions: diameter is about 2 3/4 inches.
