This is a delightful limited edition paperweight by the Scottish glass artist, William Manson.
It is entitled Woodland Flowers and dates to 1993.
It is inscribed on the base: Caithness Scotland Woodland Flowers; and with the edition number 16 / 150. The issue was fully subscribed.
It is signed with Manson's WM cane in the design.
The certificate says: This is a delicate lampwork interpretation of a selection of woodland flowers.
Manson's paperweights are certainly very detailed and beautifully rendered. He was an apprentice of Paul Ysart.
This one is cushion cut with with a total of five facets on the side.
The base ground is dark forest green. The flowers are on one bright green sprig - in dusky pink colours.
This weight is in perfect condition - with no damages of any kind. It has been quite difficult to photograph with all the facets - but hope that my images do this fine weight justice.
It's a wee beauty!
Dimensions: Height is 1 1/2 inches; Diameter is 2 1/4 inches.
