This is an interesting paperweight which is dated 1977.
It was made at Caithness Glass and designed by the glass maestro, Peter Holmes (it has his PH cane on the base, as photographed).
It is signed and with an edition number etched in the base.
The weight is entitled First Quarter - and it represents a clear quarter moon floating about a coloured gather of glass in the center - which represents the earth.
It has a polished circular facet to the front of the weight - which acts as a viewing window.
It is in excellent condition with no damages.
A nice big size - being 3 1/4 inches in diameter and 2 3/4 inches in height.
More of a minimalist design - looks better in "real life" than in my photos.
