This is a beautifully made double facet-cut Caithness paperweight.
It is annotated on the base and has the title Organic. It also has an issue number 3685.
It is not dated on the base - but probably dates to around 1990 when this shape was very popular. I am suggesting that it might be by Helen MacDonald as she loved to use this shape in her weights at this time.
The weight is a large egg-shape with chisel facets on each side that meet in a sharp ridge at the top. This forms the most unusual and attractive shape and gives you a mirror image on each side. When you look into the weight from the front of back polished viewing facet, you can see a large clear egg-shaped air bubble - it is surrounded by dark green swirls. The bubble sits on a thick olive green base. There is suggestions of dynamic movement in the weight. When you look into the weight from the sides you can see the internal bubble as a much larger size side-one.
The weight is in excellent condition with no damages. The thin edge peak at the top is without any issues.
It measures just over 3 3/4 inches in height. It has a diameter of 3 inches. It is 650 grams unpacked.
It is a very stunning weight and in good vintage condition - it was hard for my to photograph the facets and the interior of the weight - so I hope that I have done it justice. It certainly looks nicer in "real life".
