This is a cute little hand-painted trio of early 20th century Bough pottery pieces. They are more cabinet pieces for display rather than functional.
This little set has hand-painted a matching intricate floral pattern on each of them.
Each item is fully marked to the base, as photographed.
These cans and saucers were probably a little blank of this earthenware vase which was made by Maling and Sons, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and used by Bough Pottery.
The decoration features the attractive stylized flowers that you find on Bough pieces. The colours are all fresh and spring-like.
CONDITION: In good condition for Bough pieces now 90 years old with no chips or cracks. A perfect pair of cups and saucers are quite hard to find. The side-plate has a little bit or restoration and priced accordingly.
Dimensions: The side plate is 7 inches in diameter. The cup is 2 3/4 inches high and with a diameter of 3 inches. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches.
Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth and Richard Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).
