This is a lovely vintage Scottish stoneware set of small serving dishes. They are very desirable and it is not that often that you find as a set a matched set of fout dishes offered together.
I am listing each little dish at £12 each which is a fair price for this pattern.
They are very handy for formal Scottish dining. They were made by Buchan Pottery, who were based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed). The pottery was established in Portobello in 1867 and ceased production there in 1972. The pottery then relocated to Crieff and permanently closed in 2000.
All my little dishes date to the 1950s / 1960s and are in perfect condition, as photographed. They measure 5 inches in diameter and from handle to handle you have a measurement of 6 1/2 inches. They are about an inch in height.
Each dish is decorated with the Hebrides pattern. This features a stylised abstract pattern of yellow and blue zigzag lines and stripes. A traditionally popular pattern in the Buchan Stoneware range with a good mid-century modern feel to the design.
