This is a large tankard mug which was made by Buchan Pottery, who were based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It dates on stylistic grounds to the late 1950s. It is a more unusual pattern and one that you do not see so often on Buchan pieces.
This rare pattern and larger size is probably of interest to collectors of Buchan pieces - and its rarity is reflected in my asking price for this wonderful tankard. It is in excellent condition with no damage.
The mug or tankard is a large one - and is just under 5 inches in height. The base is 4 inches in diameter and the rim is just over 3 1/4 inches in diameter. Unpacked the mug is 700 grams in weight.
