This is a nice little vintage pair of Scottish porcelain birds that were made by Alastair Dunn at Arran.
In the early 1970s, Alastair Dunn began producing these fine miniature porcelain models at his pottery studio on the Isle of Arran. These are original figurines of bird models that have the Arran stamp or labels on the base, as photographed. Sadly the one on the smaller bird is missing.
Alastair Dunn continued to make these models throughout the 70s - until his death in 1986. They were popular with tourists to Arran - and are now much sought after by collectors.
The birds featured are the Great Spotted Woodpecker (he is a harder to find Arran figurine: £25) and a smaller model of a Long Tailed Tit (£10) Both are hollow made from fine porcelain and have a nice matt finish. The details on each bird is hand-painted.
The woodpecker is 11 cm tall and has a width of 4.5 cm. The long tailed tit measures 5 cm in height (from base to tip of tail) and with a length of 8 cm. In excellent condition with no damages.
