These are a beautiful pair of antique Scottish Bridgemess / Bo'ness Pottery Russet and White Spaniel or Collie Type Dogs with Brown Glass Eyes.
They were made at Bo'ness Pottery and date to around 1900.
They are in excellent condition with no damages. They have had replacement eyes at some point in the past (reflected in the price). This is a really large pair - they measure 13 inches in height and are about 9 inches wide.
In the 18th century, Bo’ness was one of the most thriving towns on the east coast and ranked as the third port in Scotland.
Among the town's many thriving industries was pottery production and Bo'ness soon became established as one of the main pottery-producing areas in the country.
Pottery production in the town lasted for almost 200 years. It reached its heyday at the end of the 19th century when three factories were operating simultaneously at Bo'ness, Grangepans and Bridgeness. The last pottery closed as recently as 1958.
Sadly the size and weight would restrict these to UK posting only. They will be sent to you in the UK with Parcelfoce48 - this will cost about £10 and applied to your order at the checkout.
