This is a rare 1920s breakfast set with all pieces made by Robert Heron & Sons.
It consists of the following pieces - a miniature teapot, miniature milk jug and open sugar bowl, two cups, and two saucers (one is more of an underplate than a saucer, as it has no central indentation, but looks like a saucer on display). and two side plates. All are in good condition and they all display well.
Robert Methven Heron was the owner of the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy. He introduced a new pottery range called Wemyss Ware in 1882.
Most pieces here have a green printed Langtoun Pottery, Kirkcaldy mark on the base, as photographed. Some have a pattern number L 50.
All pieces are in fairly fine condition with no chips or cracks to them - there is a general bit of craquelure to the glaze but this is often found on these Langtoun pieces and commensurate with the type of pottery and with age.
This set is probably one for the collector of early 20th century Scottish pottery - than for someone looking for a set for regular use. It could of course be used - but the tannin in the tea might stain the pieces.
I have taken a lot of images for your inspection of each place.
Here are the dimensions: The diameter of the teapot at its widest is 4 1/4 inches. The overall height is about 3 1/4 inches (including the knop on the top). From handle to spout it is about 7 inches. The knop is intact and has never been damaged or repaired. The handle and spout are fine without issues. There is a bit of stained crazing inside the teapot - not evident on the outside. And there are two little losses on the underside of the teapot lid, as photographed.
The cups measure just over 3 inches in diameter and the height is 1 3/4 inches. Again, generally fine inside and stain-free.
The wee side plates are 5 1/2 inches in diameter.
The saucers are 5 inches and the underplate is 4 3.4 inches.
The open sugar bowl is 3 inches in diameter and 1 1/4 inches.
The milk jug is 2 1/4inches in diameter the height is 2 inches and the from spout to the handle is 3 1/2 inches.
The set is listed at £ 190 this breaks down as £85 for the teapot (based on condition) £25 for each cup and saucer (or underplate), £25 for each wee side plate, and £45 for the milk and sugar bowl. So a grand total of 230. Very difficult to find a near matched set now, so a pretty fair price. Find me another!
To pack all the pieces up carefully and with tracked postage with Royal Mail or Parcelforce48. It will cost about £10 - which will be applied at checkout.
