This is a rare pottery lidded pot made by Robert Heron & Sons.
Robert Methven Heron was the owner of the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy. He introduced a new pottery range called Wemyss Ware in 1882.
It is a fine piece of Scottish studio pottery - and you can clearly see the influence of Heron's earlier Wemyss Wares in this design.
It is a very fresh hand-painted pot with the Langtoun Pottery, Kirkcaldy mark on the base, as photographed.
It is in good condition with no chips or cracks - there is a little craquelure to the glaze - very subtle in nature and not disfiguring to the pot.
The knop is intact and has never been damaged or repaired.
The diameter of pot is 4 ½ inches. The overall height is 4 ¼ inches.
