This is a lovely large stoneware coffee pot. It was made by Buchan Pottery, based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It is certainly a most substantial piece of Scottish Pottery.
The shape of this teapot is exceptionally rare - and I have never seen another piece in this shape before. It is also a large size - and in pristine vintage condition, I don't think that it has ever been used before.
This lovely traditional Buchan pattern features a stylized abstract thistle on one side - and on the other side is a wee group of Scottish bluebells. These are all hand-painted decorations.
Dimensions: Height 9 1/2 inches and handle to spout it 9 1/2 inches.
The thistles design is a traditionally popular pattern in the Buchan Stoneware range. This tall coffee or teapot is a much rarer shape and harder to find. This is reflected in my asking price for it. It is probably of interest to a more specialist Buchan collector.
