These are more pretty pieces of Victorian Scottish pottery. Made by Robert Heron & Sons / Methven Pottery, Kirkcaldy.
On offer here is a pretty pair of non-matching open serving bowls. They have has tall sides and would be perfect for serving nuts or wee nibbles with evening drinks.
Thye both have floral patterns - the bowls are slightly different in size and the floral pattern on each is also slightly different. But as a wee pair they are certainly very attractive.
There is a little craquelure to the inside of the bowls. They would be best for dry foods or as decorative items. The body of the pottery has also slightly discoloured. This often happens with Methven pottery of this time. It doesn't look dirty but the colour has changed from a white shade or more of a light beige one.
There are no disfiguring chips or cracks; so generally fine antique condition. They are probably about 140 years old now. They are priced accordingly to take all this into consideration.
Dimensions: The larger bowl has an overall height of 3 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 4 1/2 inches. The foot diameter is 2 3/4 inches.
The smaller bowl has an overall height of 2 1/2 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 4 1/4 inches. The foot diameter is 2 inches. The smaller bowl is the one with the big pink daisy-type flowers on it.

These are certainly fine pieces of antique Scottish art pottery that have very fresh hand-painted spongeware patterns. I have a number of pieces with this decoration on sale in my online store.
