This is another pretty piece of Victorian Scottish pottery. It was made by Robert Heron & Sons / Methven Pottery / Links Pottery, Kirkcaldy.
It is one of a small group of harder-to-find lidded storage canisters which I have for sale.
Dimensions: Overall height 6 inches from base to top of lid knop. The main bowl section is 5 inches in diameter with a height of 5 inches. It is 6 1/2 inches from handle to handle. The weight unpacked is 550 grams.
Location Code: F
It is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. There is a tiny area of craquelure confined to a little section of the outside base area (that appears to be the only issue, as photographed). A really nice antique Scottish pot. My asking price for this lovely item is certainly and fair one and takes into account its rarity and condition.
These do not appear on the market that often. This is reflected in my listing price, please see my other ones in my store
Robert Methven Heron was the owner of the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy. He introduced a new pottery range called Wemyss Ware in 1882.
It is certainly a very fresh hand-painted pattern.
