This is a cute little hand-painted piece of early 20th century Bough pottery. It takes the form of a little pot or miniature shouldered vase.
The pot is fully marked to the base, as photographed. It is marked with the maker's initials on the base: these are C.C.A Amour (written vertically) - for Christina (Chrissie) Amour.
This little vase is probably a little blank of this earthenware vase which was made by Maling and Sons, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and used by Bough Pottery.
The decoration features the attractive stylized flowers that you find on Bough pieces. The main body of the little pot is a peppermint green colour - and around the rim a white bankd with colourful flowers.
CONDITION: In good condition for a pot now 97 years old. It is nice and clean and displays well.
My price reflects the fine condition of my wee pot - these are often discoloured with crazing to the glaze! hey, but not my ones.
Dimensions: Height: 3 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 3 1/2 inches.
Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth and Richard Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks - which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).
